STATISTCS:

In 2021, there were more than 10 billion active IOT devices. It’s estimated that the number of active IOT devices will surpass 25.4 billion in 2030. By 2025, there will be 152,200 IOT devices connecting to the internet per minute. IOT solutions have the internet per minute. IOT solutions have the potential to generate $4-11 trillion in economic value by 2025.

DEFINITION:

The Internet of Things (IOT) refers to devices that connect to the internet for function without the obvious connection point of a browser window or similar. It’s a network of devices that connect and share data for a range of purposes.

The Internet of Things (IOT) also describes the billions of devices around the world that are connected to the internet devices that can capture data, analyze it and perform an action based on that analysis.

SOME EXAMPLES OF IOT:

Here are some of the examples of (IOT) that are commonly seen among individuals.

Ø Digital personal principles assistants

Ø Remote light bulbs or switches

Ø Smartwatches

Ø Smart controlled thermostats

Ø Doorbells

Ø Camera or microphones/speakers that link to your phone.

APPLICATION OF INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)

The application of IOT in technology is multiple because it is adjustable to most technology that is capable of providing relevant information about its own operation, below are some application of (IOT).

v Smart Home: it is likely the most popular IOT application at the most affordable and readily available for consumers, and it is controlled by the user’s voice.

v Wearables: wearables like smartwatches on the market has made our wrists into smartphones by enabling massages, phone calls and more.

v Smart Cities: the IOT has the potential to turn the entire cities solving the problems citizen face, like controlling traffic and the congestion issues and reduces noise, crime pollution etc.

v Health: the IOT helps in improving the care of patients and prevention of lethal events in high risk patients.

v Traffic monitoring: internet of things helps in management

of vehicular traffic in large cities contributing to the concept of smart cities.

v Water supply: a sensor, is incorporated or adjusted externally to water meters, connected to the internet, it helps to collect, process and analyze data, which allows understanding the behavior of consumers, detecting faults in the supply service, and report results and offer courses of action to the company that provide the services.

ADVANTAGES OF INTERNET OF THINGS

IOT is packed full with many benefit and advantages although disadvantages are not excluded cause everything ought to have both advantages and disadvantages.

v It improved productivity of staff and reduced human labor.

v Efficient operation management.

v Easy information access and communication.

v Improved work safety.

v Through marketing and business development.

v Better use of resources and assets.

v Cost effective operation.

GIRLS/WOMEN IN INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)

The internet of things (IOT) is booming. It seems as though everything today is either “smart” version available.

Despite the fact that women hold only 30 percent of STEM degrees, women can be both skillful engineers as well as emphatic powerhouses who understand both the technical and emotional needs of potential customers.

Even though the lack of women in tech overall, there are many women innovating in IOT space. Women led startups received only 2 percent of the $85 billion invested by venture capitalists in 2017, and that was a banner year, but there are many women founding IOT startups.

Since IOT has its own software development, hardware development, product management, commerce, and other entrepreneurial skills, even those without technology technical backgrounds can enter their own companies or building their own hardware.

Women in IOT are dedicated to creating spaces to uplift other women and provide resources for young girls and students looking to enter the IOT spaces as engineers, developers or entrepreneurs. Some of these women in IOT that has made it possible, are listed below:

v Alicia Bdeir

v Sara Chipps

v Lisa Decula

v Limor Alfred

v Helen Greiner

v Lucy Rogers

v Yodit Stanton etc.

All these are some of the women that lead in IOT and created a great name for their selves in the course of time so if IOT work with women/girls it will be a great impact, because they are like the backbone of every successful economy primarily shaping the future of the country, every single days women and young girls from all walks of life are being assaulted, molested, and raped the streets, public transport, and public spaces in particular have become a territory of the hunter because the step out of their houses.

So we propose to have a device which is the integration of multiple devices, hardware comprises of wearable smartphones that has access to the internet. The complete gadget also ensures to provide self-defense and to help her escape critical condition.

She who stays at home to attend to domestic chores is now maintaining work and home simultaneously, is participating in the process of economic development on an equal footing without men.

CONCLUSION:

As you can see, IOT has helped both girls and the world at large, it is rightfully regarded as one of the most promising digital technologies that will become more widely spread and useful even at its current state, that has been a great impact on girls and women, it has also made them know that there is a world out there waiting for them. IOT can help them fulfill their dreams of being great ambassadors of their time, so let us join hands together and create a more secure world for both women and young girls.
