Today, the Women In Aerospace Nigeria, WIAN, NIGCOMSAT Chapter hosted girls from 3 schools at an online event in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child.

- Aladumo Educational Centre, Port-Harcourt.
It was a truly great time as today, instead of us speaking to the girls in our usual style, we gave the girls the floor to speak to us on their perspective of this years theme: Digital Generation. Our Generation.
It was truly amazing as the girls schooled us on digitalisation and how it has impacted every sector, from the financial, educational, governance, health etc. Girls are not just “domestic animals” they said but can thrive shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts in the tech industry.
GSS Dutse was fire though!! Those girls came correct!! I also learnt a new word …….. Apparently, this Generation refer to themselves as “Digital natives”! So cool!!
It was indeed very refreshing anchoring this event and all I can say is we really should spend more time listening to the younger ones than talking at them. They know their onions!! We also had as special guests, representatives from the Odyssey Educational Foundation and The Online Global Coding Festival in attendance as well as other colleagues in the sector.
Happy International Day of the Girl Child to every girl all over the world.
